In one or two sentences, what do you do and who do you serve?

At North Florida Naturopathic, we offer individualized natural healthcare. We seek to serve all ages by teaching first how the body is designed to work and how to best heal through daily habits.

What makes your approach or perspective unique?

We combine our medical training with knowledge of herbal medicine, homeopathy, dietary therapy and Chinese medicine.

What transformation or result do clients experience when working with you?

Our patients are educated, equipped and empowered to heal at home. I work the most with women’s health complaints, infertility and autoimmunity. I get to see patients regain their quality of life and even begin new life by gaining and maintaining a healthy pregnancy.

What led you into this work?

My own illness at 19 years old led me to question standard medical practices. Healing with other providers in the alternative medicine sphere led me to want to go to Naturopathic medical school. I also wanted to learn acupuncture and completed my Masters of Acupuncture simultaneously. Being from an all-girl family and seeing how dismissed women’s health issues are made me want to have real solutions to offer women dealing with PMS, endometriosis, PCOS etc.

Share a defining moment in your career that shaped how you lead today.

Before moving to Florida, I had practiced acupuncture for 2 years in Chicago. My license did not transfer when I moved and I was required to do an additional Masters in Chinese Herbs to practice in FL. After already completing so much schooling, I was devastated. But this unforeseen setback made me realize how much this mattered to me. I couldn’t give up. Even with having my first child during COVID, I drove to Gainesville for classes to complete this and be able to practice acupuncture once again. This setback showed me that the only way you truly lose is by giving up. I lead with resiliency today.

What impact are you most proud of making?

I’m most proud of recent legislative efforts made to license Naturopathic Doctors in Florida. SB688 passed this year and is awaiting a signature from Governor DeSantis. This bill would allow NDs to practice as they do in 26 other states/jurisdictions. I am so proud of this and passionate about this because I believe everyone should have access to Naturopathic medical care!

What message would you share with other women stepping into leadership?

Be true to your calling. I felt God change my direction through hard circumstances in my life. I’ve strived to remain true to the calling God has given to me. I also surround myself with other women walking in their callings with conviction.

Three words that define you as a leader:

Enthusiastic.

Inspiring.

Challenging.

What do you want to be remembered for?

I want to be remembered for making natural healthcare options more accessible to all and more integrated into our standard medical model. I love to educate patients and providers alike on what Naturopathic medicine is and how valuable preventive care is.
