Dr. Sonia Taylor

Baddass Women of Influence

A leader and educator with over 22 years of experience in law enforcement and training, known for teaching truth, accountability, and real-world application of life principles.

Meet Dr. Sonia Y. Taylor of CAMP

In one or two sentences, what do you do and who do you serve?

I am a believer in Jesus Christ whose ministry {service) is towards the next person I meet. With all that I have been through, all I can do is tell others He is real. The rest is up to them in business, finances, relationships, education, religion, health, whatever…you fill in the blank.

What makes your approach or perspective unique?

In this day and age I don’t find too many people like me. No bragging just observing. What makes me unique is I try to learn life’s lessons the first time either through what people show me or what God tells me.

What transformation or result do clients experience when working with you?

Truth and transparency.

What led you into this work?

Life and what my Father (the late Rev. Spencer Thomas, Jr.) taught and instilled in me.

Share a defining moment in your career that shaped how you lead today.

I am a teacher. My professional background is 22 years in Law Enforcement, where I taught. I also taught in church. My defining moment was when I discovered that the two did not connect. Unbelievers don’t believe that’s a given. But to discover that Believers don’t believe was a revelation. My hearts desire is to have a consulting business bringing the two together.

C.A.M.P. - Christian Accountability Management Practices - where I would “teach” men, women, boys and girls biblical principles for the real world - aka what I learned in Law Enforcement and 60 years on Planet Earth.

What impact are you most proud of making?

If I can make someone’s day without them knowing.

What message would you share with other women stepping into leadership?

I am a teacher who loves to learn. I have 5 degrees, 1) Business Administration, BS 2) Public Administration, MS 3) Biblical Studies, MS 4) Christian Education and Counseling, PhD,  5) Public Management, Certified and I am currently attending an online Christian Academy. After 22 years, non-sworn Law Enforcement, I early retired (disability) as the Deputy Director of Staff Development and Training. For women stepping into leadership, I would tell them to put God first and follow your passion because at the end of the day no one really cares about titles or degrees. But they do care how you treat them.

Three words that define you as a leader:

Curious

Tenacious

Grateful

What do you want to be remembered for?

Love.
